Ed Sheeran’s American Move
Ed Sheeran is setting his sights on a new home base — and it’s thousands of miles from the one he built in Suffolk.
The Grammy-winning singer confirmed during a recent appearance on The 2 Johnnies Podcast that he, his wife Cherry Seaborn, and their daughters Lyra, 5, and Jupiter, 3, will relocate to the United States for the foreseeable future. “I’m just about to move to America… we’re going and settling there,” he said.
For Sheeran, the move isn’t just about logistics. Touring has long kept him in constant motion, but this time, he’s determined to plant roots while balancing life on the road with family. It also signals his deepening interest in Nashville, the spiritual home of country music, which he has often described as his ultimate destination. Earlier this year, he admitted that shifting into country was a one-way street — something he’s fully ready to embrace.
Back in the UK, Sheeran’s Suffolk estate has become nearly as famous as the man himself. Spread across several acres, it houses two custom-built pubs and a chapel. He has spoken fondly about creating a safe space away from the cameras, where friends can let loose without fear of landing on social media. The chapel, meanwhile, carries more weight: it has hosted weddings, memorials, and festive carol services, giving it a role that goes far beyond a private luxury.
Despite his move across the Atlantic, Sheeran’s ties to Britain run deep. Born in Halifax, West Yorkshire, and raised in Framingham Earl, Suffolk, he continues to invest in the community, most notably through his minority stake in Ipswich Town Football Club. The team’s recent relegation was a setback, but Sheeran has remained a visible supporter of the club’s journey.
Career-wise, his résumé speaks for itself: 14 UK number-one singles, eight chart-topping albums, and a string of global hits that have made him one of the most bankable stars of his generation. Yet Sheeran continues to push into new territory. This summer, he surprised fans by unveiling his first art collection, a creative leap that suggested he’s as restless with his artistry as he is with his geography.
As he prepares for this next chapter, Sheeran’s relocation feels less like a departure and more like an expansion — an artist ready to test new horizons while carrying the weight of his British roots with him.
