BBC Proms 2022
After a two-year hiatus caused by the coronavirus pandemic, the BBC Proms classical music festival returns to the British scene.
The event, which will cover almost all UK venues, will take place from 15 July to 10 September.
Organisers have announced an ambitious programme, starting with Verdi's Requiem, followed by Gustav Mahler's Second Symphony (London Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Sir Simon Rattle), and Beethoven's Ninth Symphony (Chineke! Orchestra and Chineke! Voices, conducted by Kevin John Edusey). Pianist writes about it.

Proms will feature pianists such as:
- Alim Beisembayev (25 July);
- Anna Fedorova with the Ukrainian Freedom Orchestra (31 July);
- Cédric Tiberghien and Alina Ibragimova (1 August);
- Leif Ove Andsnes with the Mahler Chamber Orchestra (7 August);
- Yuja Wang with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra (12 August);
- Benjamin Grosvenor with the Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra (13 August).
Moreover, the BBC's 100th anniversary celebrations will also see the debut of more than 60 young artists, a new generation of musicians.
BBC Proms Director, David Pickard commented and said that this year is a landmark year for the world's largest classical music festival. He added that he is delighted that the extensive orchestral and choral repertoire will once again be heard at the Royal Albert Hall and that those wishing to see international orchestras return to Britain will be able to do so with great pleasure.
