Emmerdale Legend Faces Death
A major tragedy is reportedly ahead for Emmerdale, with Jimmy King set to be killed off after 22 years on the ITV soap.
Played by Nick Miles, Jimmy first arrived in 2004 and has since survived a stabbing, the end of his first marriage, and a bout of amnesia. According to Radio Times, his exit will unfold in an explosive storyline linked to the return of ex-wife Sadie King, played by Patsy Kensit.
Miles is reportedly aware of the departure and is currently filming at the show’s Leeds studios. He is expected to remain on screen until autumn. The Independent has contacted representatives for Emmerdale and Miles for comment.
Kensit’s comeback was announced earlier in May, more than 20 years after Sadie’s debut. She said: “I am really exited to return to Emmerdale. I treasure the years I was here before. Sadie King is a character that I really loved playing.”
Producer Laura Shaw has teased a dramatic return for the ruthless character. Sadie originally joined the village in May 2004 as Jimmy’s wife and became a key figure in the King family era, alongside Tom King, played by Kenneth Farrington. She left in 2006 after fleeing the village following a fake kidnapping plot with Cain Dingle, portrayed by Jeff Hordley.
Kensit later joined Holby City and earned three nominations for her Emmerdale stint: a National Television Award for Most Popular Newcomer, plus British Soap Awards nominations for Soap Bitch of the Year in 2005 and 2006.
Jimmy’s reported exit comes after ITV announced reduced runtimes for both Emmerdale and Coronation Street, with possible workforce reductions in Leeds and Manchester. ITV boss Kevin Lygo said the changes were intended to support the long-term future of the soaps.
