Lily Allen’s Pain Reignited
The tragic story of a young singer who died after falling from Stranger Things star David Harbour’s New York apartment in 2015 has resurfaced, drawing renewed attention following the release of Lily Allen’s new album — a record widely believed to be inspired by her turbulent marriage to the actor.
Christin Croft, 29, was an aspiring musician who had been staying at Harbour’s East Village apartment while he was away filming in Canada. Police confirmed that her death was not considered suspicious, though it was later officially ruled as “undetermined.” Family members said she had struggled with mental health issues and housing insecurity but had appeared hopeful and upbeat in the days before her death. Harbour later told the New York Daily News: “She was someone who struggled. She was in the shelter system. I was trying to help her out.”
The renewed focus on Croft’s death comes as Allen’s latest album dominates streaming platforms. Her first release in seven years, the deeply confessional record explores heartbreak, betrayal, and personal recovery. Sources close to the singer say the songs reflect her emotional journey during and after her marriage to Harbour.
The pair wed in a spontaneous Las Vegas ceremony in 2020 but separated three years later. Allen filed for divorce in September, alleging Harbour had a lengthy affair throughout their marriage — claims he has not publicly addressed.
Allen’s album, already a critical and commercial success, topped the UK iTunes chart within 24 hours and surpassed eight million streams in its first week, reigniting public fascination with both her artistry and Harbour’s past.
