Royal Rivalry Reignites Again
TalkTV presenter Kevin O’Sullivan has reignited debate over the fraught relationship between the Sussexes and the rest of the Royal Family, claiming Meghan Markle deliberately positions herself in the spotlight whenever the Princess of Wales enjoys positive attention.
Speaking on his show this week, O’Sullivan argued that the Duchess of Sussex has shown “a consistent pattern of behaviour” designed to counteract royal goodwill toward Prince William and Kate Middleton. He cited several examples of what he views as strategic media manoeuvres, saying Meghan’s public appearances often coincide with major moments for the Waleses.
“Who can forget that time when brave Kate made her first public appearance for a year after revealing her cancer diagnosis?” O’Sullivan said. “She appeared at Trooping the Colour, and suddenly, the day before, Meghan launched a brand of dog biscuits — it was a pathetic attempt to grab attention.”
O’Sullivan went on to praise Prince William for his recent appearance with American Pie actor Eugene Levy, describing it as one of the most engaging royal interviews in years. He noted that William came across “brilliantly” and that the segment reflected a modern, more relatable monarchy.
Just days later, Meghan made headlines of her own by attending the Balenciaga show during Paris Fashion Week — her first visit to the high-profile event in more than a decade. Travelling solo, the Duchess was seen greeting Vogue’s Anna Wintour and filmmaker Baz Luhrmann while wearing a white tailored Balenciaga ensemble.
A spokesperson for Meghan said she attended the event to support creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli in his “new creative chapter.” Yet O’Sullivan suggested the timing was unlikely to be coincidental, claiming the duchess’s sudden fashion reemergence was another example of her calculated publicity strategy — one that keeps royal watchers divided and the ongoing Sussex–Wales narrative very much alive.
